Amusing Tea Estate is the nearest and the most famous tea garden in Guwahati. It is just 15 km from Guwahati. There is a proper motorable road which takes you inside the tea plantations. The tea plantations are strategically placed along the slope of the hills to give a proper view of the visitors. Even though the area is located on the outskirts of Guwahati city, the area is undisturbed and unpolluted by the city environment. As the area is adjacent to Amsing Wildlife Sanctuary, various species of birds and reptiles often visit. However, please keep in mind of elephants in the area. Don’t trek into the forest area without a local guide.

In Addition, there is a waterfall nearby this place and good resorts. If you plan, you can also get trekking experience inside the forest area. There are a few good resorts (mentioned below) that are placed inside the gardens. You can also explore them.

Best Time To Visit Amsing Tea Estate: Monsoon (June-August) is the best time to visit as the area becomes lush green during this period. However, the winter season attracts more people.

This resort is an iconic place in Guwahati. Located on the top of Sonapur hills, this place has many activities for tourists. In addition, the resort has a tea garden area where you can enjoy the best view of a hill along and a good area to walk amongst the green leaves of the tea plant. The best among the all facilities is the stay at the Brahmaputra Jungle Resort. You can enjoy your stay amongst nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Even if you are on a business trip to Guwahati or you have a professional meeting the next day, you can choose to stay in this resort, because the distance of this resort cum tea garden is very near to Guwahati city. The cool surroundings can refresh your mind.

Best Time To Visit Brahmaputra Jungle Resort: Since it is a well-developed resort, you can visit this place any day and anytime. There are both indoor and outdoor spaces in the resort. Sonapur Tea Estate

Sonapur area of Guwahati is situated on the outskirts of Guwahati. For the last 10 years, the area has seen rapid urbanization, but somehow it managed by keeping intact some of its green places like the Sonapur Tea Estate. The tree garden managed by a private agency is a crowd puller. If you happen to pass by NH327, you can visit this place.

Unlike the other abovementioned tea gardens, it has no resorts or roaming places inside. However, there are many good dhabas and resorts along the NH27. If you come to eat or stay at one of these places, you can visit this tea garden which is very close to Guwahati.

Best Time To Visit Sonapur Tea Estate: Any day and anytime, but it is not worth planning your trip to this place. You can come to this place only when you are nearby or you are desperate to see a tea garden and take photos.

How To Reach: It can be reached via the Khanapara-Jorabat route (NH 27). It is 24 Km from  Guwahati city.

Main Attractions: Except for the tea garden, there are not many places to see. However, you can stop by the nearest Dhaba or resort which serves amazing food (both traditional and mainstream).

Rani Tea Garden

Final Verdict: Brahmaputra Jungle Resort would be the best option for visiting a tea garden while also having plans for lunch, dinner, and night stay. Following that, Amsing Tea Estate would be a good choice. However, Rani Tea Garden and Sonapur Tea Garden don’t offer additional facilities like food and accommodation, so they might only be suitable for a casual visit (mostly one or two hours)
