A bit of a disclaimer before you read further. The term “romantic places to visit in Guwahati for couples” is confusing for me as a blogger. In my view, romantic places mean anything a temple, a church, a nature park, a beautiful cafe, a shopping complex. After all, it is not the place, but the people that make a place romantic. So, in this blog, we will only talk about those places to visit in Guwahati that fall under the category of traditional romanticism – like those places or areas where you can make an unplanned visit as a couple and can have a beautiful experience.
Nehru Park
It is a cliche destination in Guwahati. If you ask any random person in Guwahati to name some romantic places to visit in Guwahati for couples, most of them would suggest this place. The place situated in Panbazar is one of the busiest in Guwahati. The evening atmosphere of this place is such that you would instantly fall in love with it. You would see lots of couples holding hands walking and having the best time of their lives. However, don’t confuse Nehru Park with a park. It is the surrounding area that makes the Nehru Park area of Guwahati the most romantic one for couples.
Major Attractions: Panbazar Book Market, Nehru Park Garden, Food Villa (beside the Nehru Park), the aura of Cotton University and Handique Girls College, Zero Point of Guwahati.

The best thing in Guwahati is undoubtedly the river Brahmaputra. The river Brahmaputra is so vast that it is almost impossible to see the other side of the river with the naked eye. During rainy days, it feels like a vast ocean. The hills on both banks of the river only enhance its majestic view. As a couple, visiting the Brahmaputra river viewpoint in Uzanbazar is a must if you want a wholesome romantic experience in Guwahati.
Even though there are many Riverview points, two points are particularly favourite for a romantic date: the ‘Belly View Point‘ in Uzan Bazar and the ‘Valley View Point‘ near Rajbhawan. Both points are at a distance of approx. 1 km. That one km long road is the most happening place in Guwahati. There are many cafes, bars and stalls along the route.
Major Attractions: Guwahati Planetarium, River Front Park, Alfresco Grand, Hanuman Mandir, Umananda Ghat and Lachit Ghat.

Shraddhanjali Kanan
It is a theme park situated in Zoo Road, Guwahati. The park has a a lighted fountain, a lake and a children’s playground. There is also an amphitheater where events can be organized and upcoming artists get a chance to perform. It is peaceful place within the chaotic guwahati city. The availability of sitting provisions makes the park an ideal place for relaxation. On the opposite side of the park, there is Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden where you can spend your time amidst natural environment. If you are coming out of Assam, you can see lots a exotic animals including the world famous one horned rhinoceros.
Even though it is situated inside the busiest area of Guwahati, you don’t have to worry about parking. There is a multi-level automatic parking system in front of this park.
Major Attractions: The Park itself, Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden.

- The place is full of activity, music concert, art exhibitions, book fair etc. You just need to be at the right date to witness this.
- There are some premium shopping mall (Guwahati central, Central Mall) near this place, you can also check them out.
Best Time to Visit: For park it is Evening Hours or for Assam State Zoo, the best time to visit is during daytime (9 AM to 5 PM). You can spend your afternoon at the zoo, then visit Shraddhanjali Kanan in the evening hours.
Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre
It is a newly developed area under GMDA in Panbazar area. If you are a photographer couple, you would want to visit it everyday. Starbucks Coffee Store has been opened recently at this place. Visitors are supposed to pay a fee of Rs. 100 per person or Rs. 20 if you visit Starbucks and share the receipt of the order of Starbucks.
Inside this place, Experience charming pedestrian paths, an Art Garden, and a historic Heritage Bungalow celebrating Assam’s heritage. Embrace a serene outdoor ambiance with cafes and river-facing viewing decks, all set against the majestic backdrop of the Brahmaputra River.

GMCH Hill Top
If you ask what is the best place to view cityscape of Guwahati, then the unanimous answer would be GMCH Hill top road or the road from Kahilipara to Guwahati Medical College. It is not a tourist destination per se, but the road trip along with route is truly romantic. You can stop at certain designated places and watch the night sky of Guwahati city. But it is better to go to this place with your personal vehicle, so that you can halt whereve you want. Many couples were caught by police along this route doing unscrupulous 😉 things inside car. Please don’t act like them and date like a true gentleman.
Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple
If you are a couple with religious bent of mind, you take visit this temple situated at NH37. The garden in front of the temple is maintained properly and you can sit all day long if you want. But you wont get bored. Such is the vibe of the temple.
The temple boasts stunning architectural features, characterized by pristine white structures adorned with intricately carved deity images on its walls. At night, it radiates a warm glow from strategically placed lights, making it visible from afar. Within the temple premises, there’s a restaurant offering genuine South Indian cuisine.
